Dusting Off a Whiskey Legend

To celebrate a rare 16-year-old release of Old Grand-Dad Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, we created a packaging design that honors the brand’s deep heritage while embracing a bold, modern sensibility. Drawing from archival elements and historic cues, the design elevates the brand with thoughtful details, premium finishes, and a refreshed wordmark. My roles were pack design pack and all motion design.

Challenge

The challenge was to design packaging that felt worthy of a rare 16-year-old bourbon—premium and elevated, but still rooted in the bold, no-nonsense character of Old Grand-Dad. It needed to honor the brand’s legacy while pushing it into more refined, modern territory.

Solution

We looked to the brand's heritage to design a bottle that honors Old Grand-Dad’s legacy while elevating the 16-year bourbon. By blending historical elements with a bold, contemporary look, we created a premium feel with a refreshed wordmark, vibrant age statement, and premium finishes that reflect the whiskey’s rich character.
